Art by Alison Haag.
"I am an artist living and working in New York City in the Upper East Side. Experimental in nature my work ranges from the narrative, capturing life’s daily humorous moments, to meditative landscapes made with colorful excitement. The usage of different techniques and materials is part of my process. I enjoy the challenge of having something to work with and making it my own. Creating in a new process and expanding my work is exciting to me.My narrative work often incorporates the practice of sewing scraps, gifted to me by ex-lovers, family and friends. Each scrap is placed and sewn together and adorned in applique style to a fabric backing, with ink and non-toxic paint adding in the finer details to create the final narrative scene. My artwork “Welcome Home Honey” narrates a scene of a working woman who no one in the family waits to eat dinner with. The disappointment of eating alone night after night, while everyone else ate together and most likely she will clear the table after she finishes her meal."
